Confederate Pension Application Supplements, 1879-1960
Applications, supporting documentation, and correspondence for indigent or maimed Confederate veterans or indigent widows of Confederate soldiers. These records are from Record Group 058-01-001, Confederate Pensions and Records, Pension Office, Pension Applications.
The original records consist of a main series plus two supplements of application files not interfiled in the main series. These supplements are documents that were incorrectly filed or found after the main group of pensions had been microfilmed. This online collection currently consists of images scanned from the originals of all records in Pension Supplements 1 and 2, plus all records for the first 8 of 161 counties in alphabetical order. The files in Supplement 2 are available only through the Confederate Pension Application Supplements.
Ancestry.com has scanned Georgia's Confederate pension application files from microfilm. The main series plus Supplement 1 is available in the Confederate Pension Application Collection. Supplement 2 will eventually be added to the Confederate Pension Application Collection and this collection will be discontinued.
